Date-stamped : 14 Sep96 - 18:10 From The Press September 13, 1996 Changes to club cricket draw While the Christchurch senior club cricket titles stay the same this season, the draw is different. Instead of the season start- ing with two-day matches and a predominance of one-day play dur- ing December and January, the reverse will apply. The season will start with five one-dayers in the first seven playing days. Two-day matches will be played over Labour Weekend and Show Weekend, which have previously been split rounds with part of a two-day round and a one-day round. Club spokesman Blair Hartland said the date change was primarily because of weather disruptions in October. "We often lose a day or two early on and that can really disrupt the two-day competition. If we lose a one-day round early on it may be re-scheduled and is not the be-all-and-end-all." In the past the draw had tried to be worked around enabling provincial players to be available for as much of the two-day competition as possible. The draw is: Trust Bank Cup (one-day) -- October 5, 12, 19; November 2, 9; December 21, 22; January 11, 18. Trust Bank Trophy (two day) -- October 26-28; November 15-16, November 23-30; December 7-14; January 25-February 1; February 8-9; February 22-March 1; March 8-15, March 22-29.
