CRICKET (Abroad):

* Sri Lanka 'A' team arrived in Hong Kong to take part in this weekend's Hong Kong International six-a-side cricket tournament.

Former Sri Lanka Test cricketer, Ruwan Kalpage, will lead the eight-member Sri Lanka X1 at the Hong Kong Sixes on Saturday and Sunday. The rest of the side includes Saman Jayantha, Eric Upashantha, Indika de Saram, Russel Arnold, Mahela Jayawardene, Hemantha Wickremaratne and Ruwin Pieris.

The team will return to Colombo on Monday. Sri Lanka 'A' team was captained by Test batsman Marvan Atapattu at last year's Hong Kong 'sixers'.

* The quarter finalists have been selected for the Under-24 inter-club cricket tournament, conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka.

The eight teams which have qualified to play in the second round, on a knock out basis, are Kandy Youth CC, Bloomfield, Colts, Galle CC, SSC, Panadura SC, CCC and BRC or Moors.

All quarter finals will be played in Colombo on Saturday and Sunday - at Sara Stadium, Bloomfield grounds, NCC grounds and at Braybrooke Place.

* The defending champions NCC were knocked out from the final round of the BCCSL under - 24 cricket tournament which will resume this weekend. NCC despite recording three first innings victories in group one failed to qualify into the quarter-finals and finished behind the leaders Kurunegala YCC. In fact Kurunegala YCC with two outright victories to their credit will now take on Bloomfield on September 21 and 22 at the P.Saravanamuttu Stadium.
