Under-17 Sebastianites excel this season

St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa, under-17 team did well to emerge joint champions with D.S Senanayake in the Sri Lanka Schools' Cricket Association's under-17 division one final played for the Singer Trophy.

Stylish right hand batsman Nalin Wijesinghe who scored over 280 runs is the captain of the side. The stumper of the side and prolific run-getter who has scored over 440 runs including a century, Prasanna Jayewardena, is his deputy.

Other heavy scorers for the side were left-hand opening batsman Buddhika Mendis (aggregate of 403 runs including a century against De Mazenod) and his partner Dilshan Godfred, Nuwan Fernando, Manoj Jude Fernando, Suranjan Silva, Jayanga Liyanage, Rayan Mendis and Shehan Sivarathnam.

Nuwan Fernando was also a stand bye for the under-15 tour of England.

Their bowling department comprises Nuwan who shares the new ball with Himal Perera. Buddhika Mendis , Suranjana Silva and Nalin Wijesinghe are the medium pacers who have performed well this season.

Their spin attack comprises two right arm off spinners, two right arm leg spinners and a left arm spinner. Dilshan Godfred has taken over 20 wickets with his off spin and is ably supported by left arm spinner Chaminda Francis who captured eight wickets for 23 runs against St. Peter's.

The team is coached by Neil Rajapakse and the master-in-charge is Frank Cooray, the coach of the under-15 Sri Lanka team which toured England for the mini world cup.
