Cricket team to be announced this afternoon

LAHORE, Aug 22; Approval of a 14-member Pakistan team for thesecond Sahara Cup cricket series against India in Toronto will be given on Saturday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Council will meet at the headquarters at the Qadhafi Stadium from 10 am to discuss a few items on the agenda. The PCB Chief Executive Majid Khan, talking to this reporter on Friday evening, said that the main point on the agenda of the Council was the approval of the team picked by the national selection committee. The Council would also finalise name of manager and other officials which were to accompany the team to Canada.

The second Sahara Cup cricket series will get under way from Sept 13. The Pakistan cricket team will leave for Toronto on Sept 9. While replying to a question, Majid Khan said that the other items on the agenda were not so important.

The PCB Chief Executive was not sure how long the PCB Council meeting would last and at what time he would be able to brief newsmen about the decisions.

``I am also not sure whether the PCB Council meeting will begin at the scheduled time. There could be delay in the arrival of the members of the Council due to delays in flights to Lahore. Please contact the PCB offices around 2 p.m to know about the exact time of briefing'', said Majid Khan.
