CB Ex. Co. cut a sorry figure

The Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board cut a very sorry figure at the Cricket Board headquarters yesterday.

Only six of the 21 members turned up for a meeting with United Cricket Board of South Africa managing director Dr. Ali Bacher.

Dr. Bacher came here on the invitation of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board on his way to attend a meeting in Calcutta, of the International Cricket Council (ICC) development committee of which, he is the chairman.

According to Cricket Board sources, eighty percent of the membership had confirmed they would attend the meeting.

Their absence only went to confirm that these members don't have Sri Lanka cricket at heart, but would be present in their numbers if there was something individually beneficial to them.

In recent times, the ExCo has been criticised for having members who have never played the game. Yesterday's poor turnout confirms the actuality of it.
