Washed off

Sri Lanka's opening match of the 1997 Women's World Cup tournament against India was washed off by rain in Gauhati. The two teams will be awarded three points.

Sri Lanka's next match of the tournament, played for the Hero Honda trophy, will be against the West Indies in New Delhi today.

Negombo CC 2 wins

Negombo Cricket Club registered two victories in their division three Gampaha District Cricket tournament match played recently.

Beat Sun S.C. by 73 runs

Mervan Fernando excelled for Negombo C.C. captured 4 wickets for 21 runs and Rahim Dole top scored with an unbeaten 48 runs.

Tea Board beat Kelaniya University

A superb spell of 6 for 36 off seven overs including a hat-trick by Gamini Mallikarachchi guided Sri Lanka Tea Board to a 20-run win over university of Kelaniya in a Group 'A' match of the Nationalised Services 'E' Division limited-over tournament match at University grounds.

In reply to Tea Board's 171 all out, Kelaniya University team was shot out for 151.
