NATHAN Astle appears set to rock Lancashire League side Accrington by signing for Nottinghamshire.

The 25ÐyearÐold New Zealand Test star is wanted at Trent Bridge to replace their injured overseas professional, Pakistani pace man Mohammed Akram.

An emergency meeting between Accrington officials and a delegation from Nottinghamshire will take place tonight at Thorneyholme Road.

Accrington will be reluctant to lose the services of the talented New Zealander. But Nottinghamshire, who seem determined to prise him away, could buy out his contract.

It is a bitter blow for the Thorneyholme Road side who lost Astle to international duty in India last month.

Luring him to the Lancashire League was a tremendous coup for the club recently laden all too frequently with the wooden spoon.

Astle starred in the Test series against England down under and, despite missing several games during the tournament in India, has already amassed 327 runs in the Lancashire League and claimed 16 wickets.
