Hectic century by Indika de Saram

INDIKA DE SARAM cracked a hectic 112 with eight sixes and six fours off 85 balls to help Nawaloka beat John Keells by 69 runs in a Mercantile 'A' division cricket match at Bloomfield grounds Reid Avenue yesterday.

De Saram was well assisted by Thushara Kodikara (71) to see the winners reach a healthy 319 off 43.1 overs after the game was reduced to 45 overs per side due to a late start because of a wet surface.

At the NCC grounds a strong Hatton National Bank outfit trounced Commercial Bank by 89 runs in another Mercantile 'A' division cricket match reduced to 22 overs per side due to overnight rain.

At Bloomfield grounds:

Nawaloka 319 off 43.1 overs (Indika de Saram 112, Thushara Kodituwakku 71, Pasan Wanasinghe 27, Thushara Sampath 19, Ruchira Palliyaguru 26, S. Alexander 2 for 56, N. Bandaratileka 2 for 43, P. Abeygunasekera 2 for 47, Angelo Rajaratnam 2 for 20).

John Keells 250 off 41.3 overs (Sujith Janaka 39, Marlon Fernando 25, Nigel Fernando 10, Z. Hamid 23, Tariq Jiffrey 37, P. Abeygunasekera 16, N. Banadartileka 29, R. Palliyaguru 2 for 40, C. Mapatuna 2 for 37, D. Surendra 2 for 44).

At NCC grounds:

Hatton National Bank 154 for 8 off 22 overs. (Varuna Waragoda 66, Avishka Gunawardena 43 n.o, Saman Jayantha 10, Pradeep Heenkenda 2 for 24).
