Seylan Bank beat HNB by 7 wkts

SEYLAN   BANK   caused  a major upset in the Mercantile `A` divi-
sion cricket tournament when they beat last year`s champions Hat-
ton  National   Bank  by  seven wickets in their tournament match
at the Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

HNB 223 in 49.3 overs (Gamini Wickremasinghe  50,  Russel  Arnold
51,  Sanjeewa   Silva  30,  Avishka Gunewardena 26, Suranga Wije-
nayake 25, Mahala Jayawardena 2 for 41, Tilan Samaraweera  4  for
37).

Seylan  Bank  224  for 3 wkts in 41.4 overs (Lanka de  Silva  26,
Nuwan Shiroman  37,  Naveed Nawas 33, Sampath Perera 65 not  out,
Ma-  hela  Jayawardena  50 not out, Pramodya Wickremasinghe 2 for
42).
