Sri Lanka will skip B'desh

Sri Lanka will not participate in the Silver Jubilee Independence Cup of Bangladesh due to their international commitments at home.

Bangladesh are scheduled to hold their Independence Cup tournament from January 10 to 18 next year, the time Sri Lanka will be hosting Zimbabwe for a series of two Tests and three one-day internationals.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has informed their Bangladesh counterparts of their inability to participate.

The tournament will feature India, Pakistan and host Bangladesh with all matches to be played at the capital city of Dhaka.

The draw for the tournament: Jan. 10 - India v Bangladesh, Jan. 11 - India v Pakistan, Jan. 12 - Pakistan v Bangladesh, Jan. 14 - 1st Final, Jan. 16 - 2nd Final, Jan. 18 - 3rd Final (if necessary) - [S.T.]

Chief coach of the MRF Pace Foundation of Madras, T.A. Shekar is presently in Sri Lanka to train 24 potential fast bowlers.

Sekhar commenced his seven-day program on Monday at the NCC grounds. He was invited by the coaching committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
