* Unbeaten South Africa takes a commanding lead in the latest points table of the four-nation Jinnah trophy independence tournament now in progress at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan.

Hansie Cronje's men won their first two game against Pakistan and the West Indies on successive days and have almost booked a place in Saturday's cup final. They have gained four points and have one game left in the preliminary round - against the World champions Sri Lanka on Thursday.

Sri Lanka, the only other unbeaten team, have gained two points winning their first game against the West Indies and have two league matches in hand.

* Colombo International School emerged champion at the inter international schools under 15 cricket tournament. They beat Leighton Park International School by 119 runs in the final played at Nomads grounds. Colombo International School scored 183 and dismissed the opposition for 64 runs with A.Junaid (2 for 2 ) and A.Wijesuriya (2 for 2) causing the damage.

Junaid who also made a top score of 75 for Colombo International School was named man of the match. In addition S.Ali Faleel of Leighton Park was named best bowler in the tournament while M.Raj of Asian International School won the best batsman's award. A total of eleven teams participated in this tournament which was organised by Asian International School and sponsored by Kotmale Holdings Limited. The champions received the Kotmale trophy. Chief scores: Colombo International School: 183 (A.Junaid 75, C.de Soysa 29, S.Mahendran 31, G.Perera 3 for 18); Leighton Park: 164 (R.Rajkumar 4 for 17, A.Junaid 2 for 2, A.Wijesuriya 2 for 2).
