* Lanka Cavaliers will travel to Badulla this weekend to conduct their 4th outstation cricket program at the Badulla Cricket grounds at the invitation of the Badulla Cricket Association. On Saturday they will play a match against a team selected by the Badulla CA while a coaching clinic for students in the area will be held on Sunday.

The programme in Badulla follows the highly successful launch at Anuradhapura in August followed by Buttala (Moneragala) in September and Matale in October. The local organising is handled by the respective District Cricket Associations. The coaching clinic consists of a lecture by Cavaliers Skipper Bandula Warnapura, Sri Lanka's first Test captain and a former National Director of Coaching followed by a practice session. Warnapura will be assisted by other players, several of them who have played at national level and presently engaged in coaching various schools and even abroad. Other locations identified for training are Matara, Kurunegala, Negombo, Kegalle, Galle, Hambantota, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Polonnaruwa, Nuwara Eliya and Chilaw/Puttalam.

* Maliyadeva held Prince of Wales to a draw in their inter-school match concluded at Moratuwa. Prince of Wales, batting first, made 286 for 9 declared with a polished century by S. Hitteya 116. K. Fernando made 49 and C. Sampath 41.

In the bowling department, D. Goonetillake had 5 for 52. Maliyadeva in replay, scored 169 all out. (R. de Silva 52, I. Hameem 50, H. Fernando 5 for 44, P. Ranaweera 4 for 27). Trailing by 117 runs on the first innings, Maliyadeva were forced to follow on and were 81 for 3 at close. (I.de Silva 28 n.o.).

* Central Hills Sports Club, Kandy made a winning debut in competition cricket when they beat Shakthi Sports Club, Gampola by seven wickets in their Cricket Board's Division III cricket tournament match played at Sri Rahula College grounds, Katugastota.

Shakthi Sports Club, taking the first lease, made only 72 all out in 35.3 overs (S. Nuwan 21, M. Arafath 3 for 10, J. Suresh 2 for 13, C. Kumara 2 for 20, D. Narada Gunasekera 2 for 0). Central Hills Sports Club reached the target scoring 74 for 3 wickets in 15 overs (Saliya Kumara 32, Narada Gunasekera 27 not out, M. Arul 1 for 8, S. Sydney 2 for 12).

* A fine knock of 76 by N.I.Zubaideen and a sparkling knock of 43 by M.Y.Badurdeen which included five sixes in one over helped Habib Sports Club beat Khettarama SC by 117 runs in their Division three cricket tournament match played at R.Premadasa Stadium.

Batting first, Habib SC made 233 for 7 in 37 overs with a top score of 76 by N.I.Zubaideen 76. In reply, Khettarama SC were shot out for 116 in 32.5 overs.
