The morale of the South African team is high following their successive wins over the World champions Sri Lanka to win the four-nation Jinnah Cup tournament in Pakistan early this month. South Africa, along with New Zealand and Australia will play in a three-nation World series cup tournament. South Africa will meet Australia in the curtain raiser game to be played under lights in Sydney on December 4. South Africa will also play two Tests against Australia.
* The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) sources said that both South Africa and the World champions Sri Lanka will take part in the three-nation tournament to be hosted here next summer. South Africa will take on Sri Lanka in the opening match of the Triangular one day international series to be played in Trent Bridge on August 14, next year.
The three participating teams - England, South Africa and Sri Lanka will play each other once on a league basis and the top two teams will advance to the final to be played at Lord's on September 20. Sri Lanka's other tournament match will be against England on August 16 at Lord's. The third league match between England and South Africa will be played on August 18 at Edgbaston. * Brighton SC SC beat Old Cambrians by 6 wickets in their BSSCL division three cricket encounter at the Moratuwa Stadium .
Old Cambrians SC, batting first, were shot out for 115 off 35 overs (N. Silva 24, Chitral Mendis 17, N. Chaminda 2 for 17). In reply, Brighton SC made 116 for 4 off 29.5 overs (A. Rajaratnam 35, N. Chaminda 39 n.o.).
* Rain prevented what would have been an exciting finish in the Cricket Board's Division I limited over cricket match between BRC and Kalutara TC at BRC grounds.
BRC made 163 in 46.2 overs, but Kalutara TC could not bat due to rain and the umpires called off play at 4.10 p.m. Sunethra Kumara was the top scorer for BRC with 57 and put on 55 valuable runs for the seventh wicket with Surath Liyanage (23).
