Top-of-the-table Zone 'B' Red Stripe Bowl clash

CRICKET: Georgetown, Cana: Second round matches in Zone 'B' of the new Red Stripe Bowl regional one-day cricket tournament will be played today at two venues here.

Hosts Guyana meet the Leeward Islands at the Albion Community Centre ground in Berbice, while Barbados take on Canada at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground, West Coast Demerara.

Both games were originally scheduled for yesterday but suffered postponements after Saturday's opening fixture between Barbados and the Leewards at Enmore was pushed back to Sunday due to the late arrival of the coloured cricket gear and other advertising material.

With all four teams guaranteed quarter-final places under the new format, attention is focused on which side will head the zone and earn the advantage of facing the bottom-of-the-table team and playing at the Test ground Bourda and not at Albion in Saturday's eliminators.

A fierce battle is therefore expected at Albion in the Guyana/Leewards encounter. Both teams have won their opening matches.

Meanwhile in Zone 'A' in Jamaica tomorrow's game between Trinidad and Tobago and the Windward Islands has been switched from Folly Oval in Portland to Melbourne Oval in Kingston. Folly Oval has been flooded by rain over the past two days. The Jamaica, Bermuda game will be played as scheduled at Alpart in St. Elizabeth
