* Zimbabwe cricket team will arrive in Colombo on a month long tour of Sri Lanka in the first week of January next year, the Zimbabwe Cricket Union announced in Harare. Informed sources said the visitors will play two Tests, three one day internationals against the World champions Sri Lanka.

The ZCU said that the dates for the tour has been finalised but they are yet to receive the finalised venues for the matches. Zimbabwe will also play a three-day tour opener from January 3 and a one day limited over match, apart from their matches against Sri Lanka national side. Sri Lanka won the two-Test series 2-0 when Zimbabwe last toured Colombo. (Home):

* Twenty one teams will clash for honours at the 1997 InterDistrict Under 19 limited over Cricket Tournament played for the Celltel challenge Trophy. Twenty one district teams from 18 district associations have been divided into five groups with four teams in each group.

The preliminary round matches will be played on a knock-out basis, regional basis. The quarter finals will be played on October 20 and the semi finals will take place on October 22 while the finals is scheduled for October 25 at De Mazenod College grounds Kandana. All final round matches will be played in the Gampaha District.

* All-island six-a-side cricket tournament organised by Nalanda Vidyalaya Old Boys' Association Gampaha District Branch will be held on October 11 and 12 on the Thakshila Vidyalaya grounds, Sri Bhodi Road, Gampaha. The Champion team will receive a challenge trophy and Rs. 10,000 and the runners-up Rs. 5,000 and third placed team Rs. 2,000.

CIC defeated ABN Amro Bank by four wickets in their Mercantile 'H' Division cricket tournament match played at the Malay grounds recently.

ABN Amro Bank were dismissed for 114 runs with Sapumal Herathge claiming 5 for 10. In reply CIC scored 120 for 6 with skipper Vajira Sugathapala stroking an unbeaten half century which included two sixes and four boundaries.

Kandy District beat Kegalle District by seven wickets in their under-19 Inter-District cricket tournament Group three match played at Police grounds, Kandy recently.

Kegalle District: 142 in 47.1 overs (C.Padmaperuma 30, P.Ariyadasa 28, P.D.I.Gunawardena 26, M.I.Palihakkara 3 for 9, S.N.Rupasinghe 2 for 18)
