* Vanessa Bowen will lead the Sri Lanka women's cricket team to the women's 12-nation World Cup Tournament in India in December. All Test countries are participating.

The Sri Lanka women's team: Vanessa Bowen (captain), Hiruka Fernando, Vasanthi Ratnayake, Ramani Perera, Rasanjali de Silva, Ganga de Silva, Kalpana Liyanaarachchi, Rose Fernando, Thanoja Ekanayake, Sudharshini Sivanathan, Thilaka Gunaratne, A. A. Indralatha, Chamanai Seneviratne, Gayathri Kariyawasam. The stand-byes are Asheni Perera, Dedunu de Silva, Chandrika Lakmali and Chaturi Thalagalle.

* Saracens Cricket Club, Kandy, helped by a good knock of 70 not out with 12 fours by Sri Rahula College schoolboy Chithranath Wijeratne, beat National Cavaliers Club, Kandy by four wickets in their Board of Control Division III cricket tournament match conducted by the Kandy District CA and played at Katugastota.

National Cavaliers Club, taking the first lease of the wicket, made 109 all out in 34.4 overs (U. Abeyratne 79, D. Wijekoon 2 for 13, K. Subasinghe 3 for 13). Saracens Cricket Club scored 113 for 6 in 24.4 overs (C. Wijeratne 70 not out, C. Ranaweera 10 not out).

* Ragama CC 'A' beat Suhada SC by seven wickets in their Board of Control division three cricket match played at Mirigama. Chief scores: Suhada SC 132 in 37.4 overs (S. Priyantha 30, P. Jayakody 25, Emil Dias 3 for 14, Chanthana Jayawardena 3 for 21, Eranga Jayasekera 2 for 31). Ragama CC 'A' 136 for 3 in 27 overs (Niranja Dhammika 39, Chamika Manchanayake 61 n.o., Roshan Iddamalgoda 21).

* Ahmad Ebrahim has been appointed as match referee for the Jinnah Cup four-nation tournament to be worked off in Pakistan next month. Besides the hosts, South Africa, West Indies and the World champions Sri Lanka will take part in the quadrangular tournament organised to mark Pakistan's 50th independence anniversary.

All matches will be day/night affairs and will be played at the Gaddhafi Stadium in Lahore. The umpires assigned are (last name is the third umpire). Nov 1:Sri Lanka v. West Indies;Saleem Badar, Javed Akhtar, Said Shah. Nov 2: Pakistan v.South Africa: Steve Dunne,Ian Robinson,Javed Akhtar Nov 3: West Indies v.South Africa;Javed Akhtar,Said Shah,Saleem Badar Nov 4: Pakistan v.West Indies; Steve Dunne,Ian Robinson, Nazir Jnr. Nov 5: Pakistan v.Sri Lanka; Steve Dunne,Ian Robinson, Mian Aslam Nov 6: Sri Lanka v.South Africa; Nazir Jnr.,Mian Aslam, Saleem Badar Nov 8: Final: Saleem Badar, Javed Akhtar, Athar Zaidi (If Pakistan qualifies for the final then the ICC umpire will supervise the match. Saleem Badar will act as TV umpire and Javed Akhtar as reserve umpire).
