Kalutara MV evened the odds to a certain extent when they captured five wickets for 122 runs after being dismissed for 108 on the opening day of their inter-school cricket match against St. Peter's at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

Sri Lanka wicket-keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana and one-drop batsman Roshan Mahanama showed early form when they hit up attractive scores of 128 not out and 95 respectively in the first of two practice games played at the SSC grounds yesterday.
Kaluwitharana leading the Sri Lanka 'B' side blazed away to his unbeaten score off 105 balls slamming five sixes and 11 fours to spearhead his team to win on a faster run rate over Sri Lanka 'A' led by Arjuna Ranatunga.
Ranatunga's side hit up 260 for 9 off 50 overs batting first, with Mahanama making a top score of 95 off 107 balls with three sixes and six fours. When bad light forced the match to end in the 40th over, Sri Lanka 'B' had replied with 235 for 2.
These matches are played in preparation for next week's four-nation tournament in Pakistan. A second practice match will be played on Monday.

25 teams for IATA six-a-side tourney
Twenty-five leading International Air Transport Association (IATA) travel agencies have entered for the inaugural six-a-side softball cricket tournament which will be worked off at the BRC grounds, Havelock Park on Sunday (October 26) from 8.30 a.m.
Each team will comprise two women and four men. The winners will receive the IATA champions trophy plus 10 replicas for the team members. There are also a runner-up trophy, and individual awards for man of the tournament, woman of the tournament, best batsman and best bowler.
An exhibition match between IATA council members and Airline Managers (BAR and SLAR) will be a prelude to the finals.
A giant screen operated by Tele-Cine Ltd will telecast the Hongkong International Sixes tournament at the grounds.
Former Australian cricketer and Sri Lanka's national cricket coach Bruce Yardley and Mrs. Yardley will be the chief guests.
