Bribery Commission to probe allegations against CB official

COLOMBO, Wednesday (Lankapuvath) - A special unit of the bribery commission has commenced. Investigations into allegations of bribery made by Sri Lanka Cricket Board President Upali Dharmadasa against a high official of the cricket board who allegedly solicited a bribe of US dollars 100,000 and accepted half of it from world tel, an international television company to grant rights to telecast all international cricket matches played in Sri Lanka.

Official sources told Lankapuvath that Dharmadasa's statement in this regard has been recorded

Andhra Pradesh in 114-run victory

A fine knock of 94 by skipper Purnima Rau helped the touring Andhra Pradesh women's cricket team register a 114 run victory over Samudra Ladies CC in their limited over cricket match played at the Albert Peiris Stadium, Wennappuwa.

Purnima Rau hit a top score of 94 as the Andhra Pradesh women's cricket team compiled 178 for 8 in 39 overs. In reply the home side were dismissed for 64 runs.

The visitors will take on the WCACL President's XI in another limited over fixture at the Colts CC grounds, Havelock Park today. The Minister of Samurdhi, Youth Affairs and Sports S.B.Dissanayake will be the chief guest.

First innings win

St. Thomas' College, Gurutalawa, gained a first innings win over Kataragama Central College in their Coca Cola Trophy under-19 cricket encounter played at Gurutalawa.

M. S. M. Faiz set a ground record when he scored 191 runs in their total of 366 for 9 in 75 overs. Earlier Kataragama Central batting first scored 229 runs in 76.5 overs. When the encounter was abandoned Kataragama Central had scored 40 runs without loss in 16.4 overs.
