KARACHI, Sept 2: Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja on Tuesday denied PCB reports that he was fined for going for toss in green shorts in the Asia Cup opener in Sri Lanka.

``I was not fined. In fact, I had gone there because Match Referee John Reid was in a hurry and told me to come quickly,'' Raja said. Last week, PCB chief executive, Majid Khan, told reporters in Karachi that Ramiz Raja was fined in cash by the tour disciplinary committee that comprised Salim Malik (chairman), Saeed Anwar and Moin Khan. A member of the tour disciplinary committee, on condition of anonymity, endorsed Raja's statement. ``We didn't fine him.''

Raja said he was only fined Rs 20,000 for writing a diary in a newspaper. He defended his article about the tour of India saying he had not made critical comments about Salim Malik.

``However, the praise I gave to Salim (Malik) in the second edition of the article was stopped which created a bad feeling. Nevertheless, I talked to Salim (Malik) and he understood my point.''
