GREAT Harwood CC have terminated Chris Killen's contract for ``playing under the influence of alcohol'' during Saturday's game at Blackburn Northern. The Vaux Ribblesdale League club will play their last two matches without a professional.

Harwood chairman Steve Pilling said: ``We have had one or two disciplinary problems with the professional over the season but we have sorted them out internally.

``On Saturday, he was drinking during the game and playing under the influence of alcohol which is not acceptable.

``It left us with no alternative but to terminate his contract and, on reflection, perhaps we should have done it earlier in the season.

``But we gave him a chance. For a professional to behave in this way is not only letting the club down, he is letting himself down more than anything else.''

The Australian all-rounder has played for several clubs in the local leagues.

And this season he had achieved the ``mini-double'' of topping 500 runs and 50 wickets in the league.
