13 stumpers to come under Marsh

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has picked 13 wicket-keepers to follow a program on 'Wicket-keeping' to be conducted by former Australian Test wicket-keeper, Rod Marsh at the Sara Stadium on Sunday (September 14).

Marsh is currently in Sri Lanka as manager of the touring Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy side and has kindly consented to conduct the program at the request of the Cricket Board, commencing 8.45 a.m.

The following wicket-keepers are requested to be present: Romesh Kaluwitharana, Lanka de Silva, Pubudu Dasanayake, Indika Galagoda, Sampath Perera, Prasanna Jayawardena, Dilshan Vitharana, Rally Tissera, Jerome Fernando, Chamara Dunusinghe, Piyasad Senaratne, Gayan Sanjeeva, Buddhika Ekanayake.

Gulf Air Cricket sixes on Sept 14

Gulf Air will host an Inaugural soft ball cricket sixes tournament on the 14th September at N.C.C grounds, Maitland Place.

Thirty four teams comprising of passenger/cargo, hotels and other industry related organisations have confirmed participation at present. This event is co-sponsored by DHL, the worldwide courier.

Gulf Air Hope to make this an important event in the aviation industry's annual sports calendar. In addition to the attractive prize money would be offered to the winners and the runners-up of the tournament, winners of the entrance raffle draw would be entitled to return air tickets.

Perera - 5/30

A fine spell of bowling by C. L. Perera (5 for 30) helped Lumbini MV to restrict Royal College, Panadura to 167 for 9 in their first innings on the opening day of their Singer trophy under 17 cricket tournament final played at the Panadura Esplanade yesterday.

The match will be continued at 9.45 a.m today.

Ananda take Under-15 Division One Title

Ananda clinched the Horlicks Trophy Under 15 Division One cricket tournament when they defeated St.Peter's College on the first innings in the final concluded at Viharamaha Devi Park yesterday.

The Anandians chasing a total of 191 reached a formidable 276 for 6 at tea and at this stage the two captains decided to call of the game. The Anandians produced three half centurions (Thilina Kandambi (70), Lakshan Fernando (76) and Mohamed Ramzi (53).

In fact Lakshan Fernando stroked eleven boundaries and also figured in a fourth wicket stand of 106 runs with Mohamed Ramzi whose knock of 53 was studded with two sixes and six boundaries.
