An unbeaten 97-run third wicket partnership between skipper Minhazul Abedin and wicketkeeper Khaled Masood enabled co-holders Acme Laboratories to retain the fourth Office cricket league title with an easy eight-wicket victory over Partex Group at the Dhaka Stadium yesterday.

On the concluding day of the two-day affair, Acme who began the day at 46 for one and needing another 116 runs in 66.4 overs to overhaul the paltry Partex total of 161, suffered an early blow when they lost opener Harunur Rashid with the addition of 19 runs to the scoreboard.

The right-handed former national opener, who scored 32 runs off 67 balls inclusive of five boundaries, was trapped leg before by left-arm spinner Saifullah Khan.

After Harun's departure, skipper Minhazul joined Khaled and collected the required runs without suffering further loss.

Inform Minhazul was unbeaten on 51 off 87 balls including four fours while Masood, highest scorer of the match, was undefeated on 63 off 159 balls with six boundaries.

Bangladesh Cricket Board treasurer Afzalur Rahman Sinha witnessed the final session of the match and gave away prizes among the winners.

Sports Reporter

Gordon Greenidge, along with his boys, has returned to the city from BKSP yesterday to have a brief conditioning session under floodlights at the Dhaka Stadium.

The West Indian coach of the national cricket team, who is preparing the Bangladesh squad for the forthcoming tri-nation tournament in India, will conduct the two-day training session at the big bowl before returning to the country's lone sports institute at Savar tomorrow.

Bangladesh along with Kenya and the hosts will take part in the over-limit tournament, to be held under the lights at seven different venues.

The tournament, to be played on round robin basis, will begin on May 11. Top two finishers will qualify for the final, billed for May 24 at the Eden Gardens.
