KC, Waterford win Sunlight semis

CRICKET: Kingston College and Waterford Comprehensive registered respective victories over St. Andrew Technical and St. Catherine High in their Sunlight Cup Group A semi-finals round matches yesterday. Waterford who went down to KC in their first semi-final game last week, secured their first victory in the round with KC winning their second game, while St. Catherine who beat St. Andrew Technical (STATHS) last week, were suffering their first defeat in the round.

At Bumper Hall: Pacer Andrew Richardson claimed six wickets for 48 runs as Kingston College defeated St. Andrew Technical by 11 runs in a nail biting encounter.

Scores: Kingston College 162; STATHS 151.

Resuming on their overnight 63 for five yesterday, STATHS the home team, were restricted by Richardson and spinner Kerry Scott who took two for 37 as they added a further 88 runs before being bowled out 11 runs short of the target.

STATHS captain Haig Thompson top scored with 64, while all-rounder Barrington Bartley Jnr made 33. At Waterford: Pacer Jermaine Lawson claimed five wickets from 19.3 overs and captain Royan Smith had two wickets from 10 overs to power Waterford Comprehensive to a convincing 97 run victory over St. Catherine High.

Scores: Waterford 217 (Dean Morgan 80, Shane Mattis 28, David Morgan 21; Bevan Brown 4-65, Alberto Henry 3-55); St. Catherine 120 (Bevan Brown 30, Edward Panther 20; Jermaine Lawson 5-51, Royan Smith 2-21).

In today's games Wolmer's Boys' host St. George's College at Heroes Circle, while Jonathan Grant oppose Bridgeport Comprehensive at Lime Tree Oval. Both matches begin at 10:30.
