FOR the third consecutive year Chaguanas Senior Comprehensive reigned supreme in the championship division of the PowerGen Bunty Lara Secondary Schools cricket competition.

They achieved this landmark when they came away with first innings points over Princes Town Senior Comprehensive at Power-Gen Sports Club Penal, yesterday.

And mainly responsible for the defending champs success was former national Under 15 pacer Ian Ali who returned the splendid match figures of six for 47 and former West Indies Under 15 captain Davindra Krishna, who failed to gain selection to represent the central Zone in the Inter Zone Under 19 series with the impressive figures of four for 60.

In front of a large crowd, which included Principals of both schools, Lydia Choate (Chaguanas) and Joe Sirju (Princes Town Senior), the Southerners resuming at 62 for one, lost national Under 15 opener Joel Surujbally with the score on 78 for a well played 44, which included five fours.

Princes Town plunged into further trouble when they lost skipper Dave Mohammed, five and West Indies Under 15 player Kenton Thompson 0, to be 88 for four.

But despite rear guard action , led by Alvin Sookdeo who remained unbeaten on 38, and Nyron Phoolchan , 25, Princes Town fell for 187 , 13 short of their target.

Turning in good performances for the Southerners were Joel Surujbally 44, Alvin Sookdeo 38 not out and Nyron Phoolchan 25.

Ali for his outstanding bowling performance copped the ``Man of the Match'' award.
