ICC appoints Development Manager

The President of the International Cricket Council, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya today announced the appointment of Mr Ross Turner as ICC Development Manager.
"This position was created to provide leadership and co-ordination of the new ICC Development Program which will be officially launched on 27th October", Mr Dalmiya said.
"Cricket must move rapidly to take up opportunities of global expansion. We have to Increase the numbers playing and supporting cricket in a greater number of countries and at the same time fast-track the better emerging countries to higher performance standards. We have divided the world into 5 regions with a full-time Development Officer in each region. The Development Manager will work with the Development Officers to achieve our objectives."

Ross Turner has done an outstanding job over the past 9 years as Development Manager of the New South Wales Cricket Association in Australia. In that time, he has grown the development department to 11 full-time employees and has made a major contribution towards restructuring the organisation and presentation of junior cricket in NSW, resulting in unprecedented support for the game there."
Mr Turner said today "The prospect of broadening cricket's appeal as well as raising the performance levels in emerging countries will prove a fascinating challenge. I am honoured to have been chosen to be ICC Development Manager".
Background Information
Ross Turner is 41 and married with one son. He played 17 years grade cricket with Northern Districts CC in Sydney, winning 3 premierships and was Captain of the Year on 3 occasions.
He will be based at Lord's and will commence at ICC in early October. © ICC
