Waqar, who has not played since taking four for 46 in the county champions' NatWest Trophy first-round tie against Bedfordshire on June 24, was told after an initial scan that a short rest would cure the injury. But a further examination now indicates it will not heal in time for him to play again this season.
``We're told that rest is the only cure, and any attempt to play will simply set him back to square one,'' said Glamorgan secretary Mike Fatkin. ``The longer-term prognosis isn't too bad, and we'll monitor his progress during the autumn.''
