Bartley stars with century

Jamaica Under-19 representatives Jermaine Lawson, with 10 wickets, and a century from Barrington Bartley Jnr. starred in the opening round of the Kingston Wharves' Under-19 cricket tournament this week.

At Kensington Park:

Surrey South defeated Surrey North by an innings and 39 runs.

Scores: Surrey North 113 and 77; Surrey South 229.

Lawson captured 7-38 from 17 overs, while off-spinner Bevon Brown took 2-29 as Surrey South restricted Surrey North to 113 in their first innings with only Carlton Baugh Jnr. (34 runs), Floyd Johnson (19), Donovan Pagon (18) and Shacurie Wilson (14) getting into double figures.

Surrey South responded through Christopher Gayle (85), Keith Hibbert (34), Tamar Lambert (28) and David Bernard Jnr. (24) while pacer Shacurie Wilson captured 8-67.

Surrey North were bundled out for their paltry second innings total as only Kemar Duncan, with 21 runs, offered any form of resistance to pacer Tamar Bundy who bagged 4-40 and Lawson who pocketed 3-29 to end with match figures of 10-67.

At Kaiser:

Middlesex captured first innings points over Cornwall who were forced to follow on.

Scores: Middlesex 285 (Bartley Jnr. 110, Maurice Clarke 49; Kamal Dennis 4-64, Brenton Parchment 3-34); Cornwall 164 (Dennis 46, Dwayne Ewart 33; Kevin Peart 6-42) and 93 for six (Myron Wilson 27, Parchment 21; Andre Dwyer 2-22, Peart 2-25).

Points standings:

Surrey South six points, Middlesex three points, Cornwall one point, Surrey North zero.
