Selectors watch players at training camp

LAHORE, Aug 29: The National Selection Committee headed by Wasim Bari and selector Shafiq Ahmed on Saturday watched the probables of Pakistan A cricket team here at the net of the Qadhafi Stadium. The newly-appointed coach Javed Miandad and Manager-designate Azhar Zaidi were also present. Another selector Salahuddin Ahmed could not watch the boys due to pre-occupation.

After having a close look, the selectors asked many players to retire and give chance to other batsmen and bowlers to show their prowess and stake a claim for the Pakistan senior team.

A trial match to be played between the Pakistan senior team probables and Pakistan ``A'' team on Sunday at 9 a.m.

The selection committee will meet at the Qadhafi Stadiumat 5 pm to finalise the Pakistan senior team. However, the teamis expected to be announced on August 31 (Monday).

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Khalid Mahmood, chief executive Majid Khan and public relations advisor Lt.-Col. (retd.) Rafi Nasim along with the scrutiny committee chairman Maj.-Gen. (retd.) Safdar will be in Islamabad on August 31 (Monday) to appear before the Senate's sports committee headed by Justice (retd.) Javed Iqbal. A one-item agenda of the meeting is deliberation over the Pakistan Women Cricket Association (PWCA) representation. At present, three factions are the claimants of the representation of the body.
