The Sims Central Sports opening batsman who toured South Africa earlier this year with the West Indies youth team, walked away with the national Youth Cricketer of the Year title and was also named as one of the five senior cricketers of 1998.
Apart from having a good season in the domestic competitions Ganga recorded his maiden first-class century (138) against Barbados in this year's regional President Cup tournament. Ramnarine on the other hand lifted the senior Cricketer of the Year trophy and was also among the five Cricketers of the Year named in the National League.
The right arm leg spin and googly bowler who made his debut in Test cricket against England this year, also came away with the best bowling average in the National League level and playing in his second Test match against England at the Antigua Recreation Ground, copped the Man of the Match award. Also named among the five cricketers of the year were WI skipper Brian Lara and National players Suruj Ragoonath and Richard Smith. Another national player, Lincoln Roberts, captain of Santa Cruz Sports club was the National League Cricketer of the Year.
Clico Preysal Sports Club who will be making a return to the National League Division one next year was named as Club of the year.
Preysal easily won the national Division Two title as well as the Mt. d'Or limited overs competition. The feature address at the function was delivered by Mr Anand Daniel NorTel's Caribbean Sales Director . Also addressing the large gathering were Ms Phyllis Augustus Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Sport and Mr Alloy Lequay President and CEO of the TTCBC.
