Barbados: BET Tries To Get The Better Of Rain

Spartan 153, BET 40-3

Cable & Wireless BET continued to make a brave effort to defy the odds and capture the title on another frustrating, rain-shortened day.

After play started at 3:10 p.m. BET immediately met with success, removing five wickets for 16 runs.

Kerry Lucas only added three to his overnight 30 before giving a return catch to Antonio Mayers.

Prior to his dismissal Rowehan Walcott had been run out as a result of a mix-up with Lucas.

Lonelle Hutson bowled Dave Marshall and Hattian Graham, and Ian Bradshaw accepted a return catch offered by Aaron Barker as Spartan slipped to 114 for eight.

Captain Dexter Toppin (23 not out) batted defiantly along with Stephen Leslie (11) to frustrate BET.

When Mayers won an lbw decision against Leslie, debutant Corey Miller helped his captain add 16 for the last wicket, leaving BET with only six overs to bat before the close.

Ron Bates, Brian Johnson and Adrian Brathwaite all perished in the mad scramble for quick runs.

Mayers lifted a big six off Miller in the final over to be unbeaten on 13 at the close. Morris ended on 16 not out.

Graham has taken two for 18.
