Earlier, it was stated that the fast bowlers training camp would be merged with the India-bound national training camp starting in Lahore from Jan 1.
However when Sarfraz Nawaz contacted PCB office and Wasim Bari, chairman selection committee, on Tuesday he was informed that the fast bowlers camp was to continue.
It has also been learnt that the decision to invite some 55 probables for the national training camp has already started to backfire as the selectors are feeling uptight to accommodate such a large number.
It has further been learnt that apparently the ten odd cricketers called to appear in trials from the fast bowlers camp have now been reduced to three which includes Shahid Nazir, Wajahatullah Wasti and batsman Mohammad Wasim.
Under-19 Trials on Dec 31
Afzaal Butt, assistant coach at the camp, informed that five of their trainees would be proceeding for the Under-19 trials being held at Lahore, these include Zahid Sayed (Sialkot), Kashif Raza, Kashif Mehmood (Sheikhupura), Asim Ali (PAF) and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal (Lahore).
Meanwhile, the fast bowlers camp will take evening off since the ground will be utilised for the national under-19 trials of probables from Rawalpindi, Islamabad and NWFP. The national junior selection headed Aftab Baloch with Mazhullah, Azhar Khan and Qasim Baloch as members will witness the trials.
The national champions Rawalpindi will be recommending some nine probables for the trials, while Islamabad will be sending three boys. No information was available on the number of recommendation from NWFP on the basis of their performance during the national under-19 championship.
