An unbroken eighth wicket of 179 runs between Malshan Fernando (112 not out) and Himal Perera (58 not out) in the St. Sebastian's second innings was the highlight of the inter-school cricket match between St. Sebastian's College and Nalanda College which ended in a draw at Moratuwa yesterday.

The Sebastianites were reeling at 75 for 7 when Malshan was joined by Himal and this pair with some sensible batting took the Sebastianites to safety. Malshan had 13 boundaries and three sixes in his sparkling knock while Himal had eight hits to the ropes in his innings.

Earlier Nalanda resuming their first innings at 33 for one were restricted to 152 due to a fine spell of bowling by right-arm medium paceman Suranjan Fernando who captured 5 wickets for 40 runs on his debut for the first eleven.

Scores:

St. Sebastian's 187 for 9 dec and 254 for 7 at close (Malshan Fernando 112 not out, Himal Perera 58 not out, Nuwan Fernando 36, Kelum Gangodawila 3 for 25, Sukitha Peiris 2 for 36).

Nalanda (33 for one overnight) 152 all out (Mevan Porage 61, Dilhan Jayasundera 19, Pradeep Hedigalle 15, Suranjan Fernando 5 for 40, Himal Perera 2 for 19, Tharaka de Mel 3 for 12).
