INDIA v PAKISTAN
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998

At Toronto, September 18. India won by 55 runs. Toss: India.

Three matches in three days were fast wearing out the pitch. For the first time, the run-ups were dry enough for Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis to exploit their pace; India lost their last five for 12 runs. But their fast bowlers found similar encouragement, taking Pakistan's first three wickets for 16. Then leg-spinner Kumble came into his own, claiming four for 12 in seven overs despite some late striking from Moin Khan. Mongia equalled the world record of five dismissals in a limited-overs international and became the only wicket-keeper to have done it twice.

Man of the Match: R. Dravid.
