KENYA v SOUTH AFRICA Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998
At Nairobi Gymkhana, Nairobi, October 3. South Africa won by 202 runs. Toss: South Africa. International debut: H. H. Gibbs. Kenya were completely outclassed, surviving only half their 50 overs. They collapsed before the hostility and the well-disguised slower ball of Donald, who finished with a career-best six for 23 and became the first South African to take 100 wickets in limited-overs internationals. None of the Kenyans reached 30; in contrast, most of South Africa's top order weighed in, with Cronje, coming good after a poor run, and Rhodes adding 101 – almost as many as Kenya managed in total – for the fifth wicket. They marched imperiously to 305, with slow left-armer Asif Karim the only Kenyan bowler to go for less than five an over. Man of the Match: A. A. Donald. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
