INDIA v SOUTH AFRICA
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998

At Jaipur, October 23. South Africa won by 27 runs. Toss: India. International debut: P. Dharmani.

South Africa's openers departed early for once, though not before Kirsten had broken Lara's record of 1,349 one-day runs in a calendar year (later in the series, Tendulkar overtook Kirsten). None the less, Cullinan and Cronje shared 113 to set South Africa up for another challenging score. Cullinan stroking his effortless way to his third one-day hundred. Ganguly opened with Tendulkar and they put on 126, but their scoring-rate was moderate and, although Azharuddin later blazed a half-century, India fell 28 short.

Man of the Match: D. J. Cullinan.
