PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998

At Sharjah, November 8. Sri Lanka won by 75 runs. Toss: Pakistan.

Pakistan were humiliated, bowled out with 14 overs to spare: Ijaz Ahmed was their only batsman to pass 15. A target of barely four an over was still possible when they were 126 for six, needing 81 from 19 overs. Then Ijaz was run out for 49 and the last three wickets fell for just five more runs. Jayasuriya claimed three for 15 to complete a fine all-round performance. Earlier, he had hit 33 from 34 balls to give Sri Lanka a promising start, though his team-mates could not keep up his scoring-rate after he became one of Wasim Akram's four victims.

Man of the Match: S. T. Jayasuriya.
