PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998

At Sharjah, November 12. Pakistan won by eight wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka.

Saeed Anwar scored another unbeaten century to steer Pakistan into the final. He made 112 in 125 balls, with seven fours and a six, and it looked as if he and his opening partner Aamir Sohail could reach their target unaided as they put on 173 in 39 overs. Though two wickets fell in quick succession, Pakistan still completed an overwhelming victory. Ranatunga had taken first use of the pitch but his batting stars got little from it.

Man of the Match: Saeed Anwar.
