PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998
At Perth, January 10 (day/night). West Indies won by five wickets. Toss: West Indies. This was West Indies' seventh successive victory, following seven successive defeats, and included Lara's 11th one-day international century – his second in consecutive innings. His 103 not out enabled his team to scale the lofty peak of Pakistan's 257 for seven. Pakistan had started slowly, mustering just 75 off their first 25 overs. But Ijaz Ahmed senior, often a high achiever under pressure, thumped 94 off 81 balls to provide a fuel-injected finish. West Indian keeper Murray thrashed 62 off 66 in their opening overs to set the stage; Lara then dominated it. Man of the Match: B. C. Lara. Attendance: 13,852. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
