PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998

At Sharjah, April 11. Sri Lanka won by four wickets. Toss: Pakistan.

Sri Lanka were back on target as Aravinda de Silva steered them home with four balls in hand to secure their second trophy at Sharjah and a couple more awards for himself. It was not his most dazzling display of the tournament – he struck only three fours – but he was still there at the end, unbeaten on 87. Pakistan chose to bat first, a decision which they seemed to have justified when Salim Malik and Inzamam-ul-Haq took them to 185 for three. But once they were separated, the last seven fell for 29 runs in six overs. Though Kaluwitharana was dismissed by the third ball of Sri Lanka's innings, it was only a temporary setback for his colleagues.

Man of the Match: P. A. De Silva. Man of the Tournament: P. A. De Silva.
