LAHORE, Jan 2:The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disciplinary committee fined left-arm Test spinner Mohammad Hussain Rs 25,000 and also banned him from participation in two domestic first-class matches on Friday. The PCB secretary, while announcing the decision of the committee, said that the stocky cricketer from Lahore has been penalised for going to Bangladesh to play cricket without seeking permission from the board. Interestingly, the disciplinary committee fined Mohammad Hussain after the national selection committee had named him in the Pakistan team which will take part in the Silver Jubilee Independence Cup Cricket in Bangladesh. The team has also been approved by the PCB Council-members. The tournament will be played from Jan 10 to 18. Besides Pakistan and the host Bangladesh, the national team of India is also participating in the triangular contest.

Husain, last season, represented United Bank in the Patron's Trophy. But since the time UBL cricket team has been disbanded, he has not played in any first first-class match. It was unclear what happens if Husain doesn't play in any first-class match this season.

He, however, has been retained in the Dhaka-bound team. The hard-hitting international Shahid Afridi had earlier been fined Rs 25,000 on a similar charge and also banned from two domestic first-class matches after he had appeared before the disciplinary committee in mid-November and apologised for going to Bangladesh without seeking permission from the PCB.

Mohammad Husain had failed to appear before the committee headed by former Test opener Talaat Ali because he was reported to be out of country.

However, the national selection committee did not take into consideration the contemplated punitive action against Mohammad Husain while picking him for the national team on December 26.
