Another test for Jamaica squad

JAMAICA's preparation for the Red Stripe Cup cricket competition moves into its final stages tomorrow with a practice match against Melbourne at Melbourne Oval starting at 10:00.

Apart from providing the last chance for players to impress the selectors before the squad is cut to 13 for the first match against the Windward Islands starting on January 24, the two-day match will also serve as a dress rehearsal for the Senior Cup champions who begin the defence of their title against newcomers St. Thomas on Saturday, January 11.

The teams: JCBC XI from Gareth Breese, Andre Coley, Wayne Cuff, Ryan Cunningham, Leon Garrick, Denville McKenzie, Delroy Morgan, Brian Murphy, Nehemiah Perry, Kirk Powell, Tony Powell, Franklyn Rose, Julian Royal, Mario Ventura, Laurie Williams.

Melbourne team will be selected from Ordelmo Peters - captain, Aubrey Wollaston, Donald Bennett, Derron Dixon, Shane Ford, Junior Hall, Donald Powell, Marlon Samuels, Donovan Samuels, Robert Manning, Sheldon Gordon, Dillon Ebanks, Colin Fletcher, Dennis Gordon, Kevin Baugh. The first three teams in the Senior Cup will participate in the inaugural County Championships. The other three teams will be Cornwall, Middlesex and Surrey.
