KARACHI, Jan 21: Twenty-five cricketers will be awarded yearly contracts before a 15-member party leaves for South Africa on Jan 25, it was decided in a Council meeting on Wednesday.

The terms and conditions of the contracts have been finalised and the document will be passed on to the players in a couple of days, the Council was told by PCB chief executive Majid Khan.

The contract will begin from Jan 1, 1998 and will expire on Dec 31, 1998. The final list of the 25 players will be officially released to the Press shortly.

``The players will be given a chance to discuss the contract and request for some changes if they deem it necessary,'' a Councillor, on the condition of anonymity said.

The contract will be awarded on the seniority of players with every member of the team to get monthly stipend from the cricket board. During a tour, the players will get additional tour match fee while the players not on the tour will receive their monthly salaries.

The captain will receive an additional amount. It has been done on the lines of Australia, South Africa and England boards.
