Batheesha - 6/63

Bloomfield's right-arm off-spinner Batheesha de Silva (6 for 63) bowled extremely well to restrict Colts to 203 all out in their Sara Trophy Segment 'A' cricket match which began at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Batheesha was well supported by Sri Lanka Test cricketer Ruwan Kalpage who took 3 for 61 as Colts were bowled out in 67.4 overs despite two fine knocks by Sajith Fernando (93) and Sujith Janaka (54). Bloomfield were 2 for one wicket at the close.

Exchanges were even at the end of the first day's play in the inter-school cricket match between St. Joseph's College and St. Sebastian's College which began at Darley Road yesterday. The Josephians had scored 52 for no loss in reply to the Sebastianites first innings total of 214 all out.

Moors hit back

BRC's left-arm leg-spinner Suwanji Madanayake (5 for 19) and right-arm off-spinner Ashan Ranaweera (3 for 46) skittled out Moors SC for 146 runs in their Sara Trophy Segment 'A' match which began at Havelock Park yesterday but the visitors hit back to have BRC reeling at 91 for 6 wickets by the close.

Moors SC 174 all out in 58.3 overs (Chandika Hathurusinghe 42, Thusira de Silva 26, A. Jayasinghe 15, Riyaz Farook 22, Ashan Ranaweera 3 for 46, Suwanji Madanayake 5 for 19).

BRC 91 for 6 in 37 overs (A. Ranaweera 19, C. Perera 27, Dhammika Rajapakse 22, A. Jayasinghe 2 for 15).

Cambrians - 203

A last wicket partnership of 81 runs between P. Ranaweera (56) and Thushara Silva (15 n.o.), helped Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa to score 250 in their first innings in their inter-school cricket match against Wesley College which began at Moratuwa yesterday.

Nuwan Ratnayake (45) and Janaka Wannakuwatte (34) also batted well for the Cambrians while left-arm leg-spinner Brian Senadheera captured 5 wickets for 68 runs for Wesley.

The match will be continued at 10 am today.
