The inter-school cricket match between Moratu Vidyalaya and Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya ended in a draw at Moratuwa. O. Warnapura, Asitha Perera and Lakruwan Fernando excelled for the home team while I. Nishan, R. Prasad and S. Sanjeewa excelled for the visitors.

Easy win for old Cambrians
Old Cambrians Sports Club beat Old Dharmapalians Sports Club in their Saravanamuttu Trophy Segment 'B' cricket match played over last weekend at Moratuwa Stadium.
The highlight of the match was a superb unbeaten century by A. Perera for the winners in the second innings and two good knocks by R. Dhammika 71 and P. Gunaratne 65 also in their second innings for Old Dharmapalians.

Boost for Mercantile 'D' division cricket
Access International who are committed to promote sports in the outstations, will sponsor the Mercantile 'D' division cricket tournament and enters a team for Mercantile 'A' division.
Sponsors of the Kandy Sports Club in Rugby football upto the year 2,000, Access International, will be a great boost to Mercantile cricket as well. Access also intends sponsoring few Colombo cricket clubs to facilitate the promotion of the game.
At a press briefing at Jade Gardens Hotel, Group Director, Access International Brian Obeysekera handed over the sponsorship cheque to President, Mercantile Cricket Association, Bertie Fernando recently.
Sara Trophy games postponed
The division one Sara Trophy (Segment 'A' and 'B') matches scheduled for today, tomorrow and Sunday have been postponed to a later date.
The new dates will be notified by the tournament committee.
Premalal dies
THE death occurred of Premalal Gunasekera (53) a former cricket captain of S.Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia and his funeral took place at the Mount Lavinia cemetery yesterday.
Premalal Gunasekera captained S.Thomas' College cricket team in 1964 and led his side to victory in the annual encounter against the traditional rivals Royal.
He leaves behind his wife Shanthi and two sons Suresh and Romesh who also represented the S.Thomas' cricket team.
