Airlines' cricket - Biman become champions

Biman Bangladesh Airlines became champions in a triangular national cricket tournament beating Republic of Singapore by 56 runs in the final at Kallang Cricket Stadium in Singapore Sunday last, says a press release.

Biman, electing to bat scored 216 for five in 50 overs with Habibul Bashar Sumon making 54. In reply, Singapore, who had suffered a 95-run thrashing in the round-robin match against Biman on July 3, managed 160 with Sanwar of Biman taking five for 24.

Earlier, Biman thrashed Air Maldives by a huge 149 runs on way to the final.

Scores: Biman 263-4 in 50 overs (H Bashar Suman 63, Ziaur Rashid 56, Ahmad Fayaz 55); Air Maldives 114 allout in 43 overs (A Khalim 27).

Suman of Biman was adjudged man-of-the-match in the finals while Sanwar was adjudged man-of-the-series. Bangladesh high commissioner to Singapore was the chief guest in the final.
