Hit Racism for Six, in conjunction with the London Community Cricket Association, is organising a ground-breaking six-a-side anti-racist cricket festival in Hainault, Essex on 29th August.
Backing for the tournament has already come from England Captain Alec Stewart, civil service trade union PCS, the MCC and a number of MPs and community groups.
Welcoming the tournament, Alec Stewart said: ``Cricket is very much a game to be played by everyone and with everyone. Make sure you all enjoy the day at Hainault on 29th August and 'HIT RACISM FOR SIX'!''
The tournament will be the first event of its kind in this country, a celebration of our multi-racial cricket culture. There will be substantial and attractive prizes, including winter net sessions at the MCC indoor school, top-quality cricket equipment, cricket book tokens, tickets to first-class cricket matches and much more.
Prizes will be presented by special celebrity guests, including international cricketers.
With the help of a bouncy castle, Kwik-cricket, and food stalls, we hope to generate a carnival atmosphere (and we’ll also keep you fully up-to-date on events at the Oval Test!). It promises to be a super day out for cricket lovers - young and old, male and female, black and white.
Teams of all kinds are welcome to enter the competition (see enclosed entry form for details).

Hit Racism for Six is the grass-roots campaign against racism in cricket. Founded in 1995, it has produced leaflets and pamphlets, organised public meetings, and lobbied cricket authorities to take positive steps to include all those who wish to play or watch the game. Its initiatives have been supported by a broad range of groups and individuals, including the Churches Commission for Racial Justice, the Bishop of Croydon, Tony Banks MP, Minster for Sport, major trade unions, Members of Parliament, local councillors, academics, journalists, community groups and cricket-lovers from across the country.
