Dhaka and Dinajpur moved into the zonal finals of the Gazi Tank national youth cricket championship winning their respective matches at different zonal venues across the country yesterday.
At the Madaripur Stadium, Dhaka ousted Patuakhali by 44 runs.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, Dhaka scored 151 for nine in the stipulated 40 overs with Ishtiaque hammering highest 36. Hanna (21) and Rehan (20) were the other notable run getters.
Anu and Kishore of Patuakhali captured three wickets each.
In reply, Patuakhali were shot out for 107 in 39 overs in the face of some inspirational bowling from Tanzeem and Imran.
Tanzeem conceded only seven runs for his four wickets while Imran gave away one run more for his one wicket.
Away at the Nilphamari Stadium, a brilliant half century from Ajit guided to a thumping seven wicket win over Kurigram.
Ajit scored 51 runs as Dinajpur, chasing a modest Kurigram total of 147 in 40 overs, went on to reach 148 for three with more than 15 overs to spare.
Ajit apart, Zakir and Shuvro contributed 29 and 27 runs for the winners.
Earlier, electing to bat, Kurigram were all out for 147 in 34 overs with Robin notching highest 30.
In the day's other two matches, Rajbari beat Bogra by seven wickets at the Jhenidah Stadium while Noakhali handed Brahmanbaria a five-wicket defeat at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium to make it to the last four in their respective zones.
