According to Mahmud Ul Haque Manu, secretary of the tournament committee, the organisers will observe the weather in Sylhet for another week and then decide the fate of the championship.
``We have received a fax from the Sylhet DSA today which says the present weather conditions will not allow them to hold any match next week,'' said Manu, who being the tournament secretary was residing in Dhaka. BCB is making a mockery of the whole thing, observed a cricket fan yesterday.
In view of the rain in Sylhet, BCB was in a dilemma last night whether to bring the remainder of the championship to the capital.
The three-day long first semifinal between holders Chittagong and Rajshahi, could not begin on June 5 as scheduled to due to incessant rainfall. The match, which was then reduced to a 50-over-a-side affair, began the following Saturday afternoon with Rajshahi batting first but not for long. They were compelled to fold their innings for 80 in 40 overs. Chittagong were supposed to bat the following morning (Sunday) but till yesterday the continual cloudburst has kept them in.
The other semifinal will be played between last year's runners up Biman and Narayanganj.
