The 'DAILY NEWS' reliably understands that the Executive Committee of the Cricket Board which met last Saturday, had decided to ask chairman of selectors Duleep Mendis to explain why he had not informed the Secretary of the CB when they sat to pick the Sri Lanka team for the First Test against New Zealand.
The secretary usually convenes the meeting although he does not take part in the discussions.
``Convening a meeting and picking a squad without the knowledge of the CB secretary is unconstitutional', said a Cricket Board official when contacted for his views.
When asked whether an explanation has been called for, chairman of selectors Duleep Mendis said that he had not received any verbal or written request for explanation. (ER)
