Champaka leading wicket-taker

Former Sri Lanka fast-medium bowler Champaka Ramanayake has become the leading wicket-taker in the Central Lancashire league with 36 wickets from eight matches. Playing for Unsworth CC in the current English season, Ramanayake sports a splendid average of 12.25 for his efforts.

Ramanayake says that if he continues to perform in this manner, he may get a good offer next year. He is currently playing his second season with Unsworth CC.

The following are Ramanayake's batting and bowling performance in the league games so far: 52 and 5/51 v Stand, 44 and 5/58 v Milnrow, 4 and 5/52 v Ashton, 20 and 6/61 v Radcliffe, 20 and 5/70 v Oldham, 40 and 4/53 v Stockport, 40 and 5/70 v Walsden, andd 22 and 1/26 v Noden.

Maliyadeva two wins

Maliyadeva College registered two victories in their under-17 Singer Trophy Cricket tournament match played at Maliyadeva ground recently.

Beat Kingswood by 15 runs

Maliyadeva College all out 214 (T. Jayanath 44, Y. Abegunawardane 41, R. Wicramaarachchi 39, T. Wijesinghe 23, Madanayake 2 for 54).

Kingswood College all out 199 (M. Mallavaarachchi 34, C. Senevirathne 48, R. Mowzoon 27, C. Rajasinghe 3 for 38, I. Dharmawardana 2 for 48, R. Wicramaarachchi 2 for 37).

Beat Trinity by 45 runs.
